Finding the time to run was also difficult, especially once it started to get dark earlier at night and dark early in the morning. I put in the miles that time would allow. I would usually take Ty in the jogging stroller once a week to get in a run and Saturdays were always my LONG runs.
So, was I ready? I was as ready as I could be. It wasn't about the speed, it was about finishing.
I had a great support team, especially my husband Rob. I couldn't have made it without your loving support Babe. Annie, my friend, was my running buddy and motivator.
October 9th was the big day. The whole family got up at 4:00 in the morning to drive to Hartford, CT. I had to pick up my packet at 6:30a.m.. Race time was 8:00a.m. There were around 13,000 runners in either the 5k, relay, half marathon and marathon.
My Sister Jana put together a care package for me. It totally made my day!
The sea of runners
Approaching the finish line
Rob and the kids somehow got lost in the crowd, so it took awhile to get reunited. Hugs awaited me from my fans.
The kids picked up several freebies as you can see in this picture.
It looks as if ...
...I finished. I ran 13.1 miles in 2 hours 12 minutes and 18 seconds. A great day! A great course! A great experience! A great accomplishment!
