Garrett's Sports Party

Garrett decided to have a Sports Themed Party. We reserved the cultural hall at the church. Nine boys received a ticket (invitation) for the event. (The limit this time around was 10)

When they arrived they each decorated a baseball cap with markers

Then it was time to warm up which included running a couple laps around the gym, ladders, and several warm up exercises and stretches.

Push ups

Arm circles

Oh wait, we can't forget the finger exercises.

The first event was basketball. Each boy had three shots. The received points for each basket they made.

Everyone was watching their competition intensely.

The second event was the Football toss. They had 3 tries to throw their footballs through the hoop. Once again they received points for making it through the hoop.

Next was the Home Run Derby. Each boy got three tries to hit the ball off the tee. The further the ball went the higher the score.

Taking a break

Time for the Dash. If you could see the looks on their faces, they meant business.

Go team!

After their pep talk they were ready for the obstacle course. It started with dribbling the soccer ball through the cones, going through the ladder, shooting a basket, throwing the football and running across the gym to the finish line. Fastest 3 times got the most points.

Last but not least was the Pinata. It was a BIG HIT!!!

Each child filled his goodie bag with candy.

There were 3 prizes given to the first, second and third place winners. Finally it was time for cake and ice cream.

Happy Birthday Garrett!!!!

He is in Kindergarten and seems to enjoy it. He was asked to participate in an early morning reading program which has helped him tremendously. He has gained much more confidence and is now reading at a first grade level.
  • He is very creative and loves to build things especially with legos or do any kind of art project.
  • He loves sports.
  • His favorite colors are blue and red. Daddy probably wishes he would just stick with blue, for obvious reasons.
  • Garrett would live on sweets if he could.
  • He is our Goofy Garrett.

Garrett opened his presents in the morning. Rob missed out on cake and icecream as a family but was at least able to see him open his presents. Garrett just couldn't wait, so he is opening his presents with his coat on.
