Marathon Preview

If you happen to be on the sidelines of a marathon you will see different types of people from all walks of life. Some with handicaps...

Some entertainers...

Some elite runners...

and ordinary people, just like you and me, who have their own reasons to conquer 26.2 miles.

I chose to run the Baltimore Marithon with my two sisters, Jana and Christina. We were all up for the challenge and the chance to run a race together. But more importantly...

We chose to run for a charity making us the Sisters 4 Shriners Hospital.

Our journeys were different yet the same. We all faced injuries during our last month of training. These injuries could have been a set back, but yet we found ourselves more driven than ever to prove to ourselves that we could still cross the finish line. We were determined to make a difference for the children at Shriners. We pushed, we hurt, we cryed and we prayed. Come race day we rejoiced that we made it to the starting line and hoped our injuries wouldn't prevent us from crossing the finish line.

Six miles left

Almost there

We all crossed the finish line. It was a joyful, yet emotional reunion.

RACE RESULTS:

Jana Openshaw 4:53:39

Steph Anderson 5:26:26

Christina Shumway 5:47:14

Here are a few of our favorite stops along the route.
