Valentines Day

If I have time to let my creative juices flow, I try to put some effort into Valentine's Day to make it a special day for those I love. This year as I struggled to come up with a new idea, I found some Love Bug Notes in the store.  I decided to make a whole theme surrounding the idea. I bought the love notes (that just so happen to be lady bugs) for the kids and stuck them on their bedroom windows, their backpacks, and lunchboxes.  To go along with the theme I found some lady bug blankets for the kids and attached a note to each one.

Rob happened to be out of town during the first part of the week, including Valentine's Day, so I decided to surprise him the day after he got back. I made lady bugs with bug sayings specifically for him and decorated his car as soon as he fell asleep. Surprisingly he drove off with all of them all over his car when he went to work the next morning.

The title on the windows in the house and car say "R U BUGGED?" "BECAUSE U R LOVED!"

I made a healthy bug lunch for the kids...

...and a few bug treats for later that day.

Poor Ty was sick and missed out on most of the fun.

On Valentines Day I always make heart shaped pancakes for breakfast. For dinner I try to use things I can make into hearts. This year we had heart shaped pasta and heart shaped garlic bread.

Rob didn't forget me over the holiday as you can see from these beautiful roses.

The best thing about Valentines Day is seeing the look of surprise on my families faces. I love seeing big smiles from those I love when I do something completely unexpected. I LOVE SURPRISES!
